Most common repairs needed to fix a Samsung oven

    Igniter Replacement

When an oven igniter is faulty, it can prevent a burner from igniting, resulting in no heat from the bake or broil burners in the oven. A failed igniter could also cause difficulty in lighting the burner, requiring multiple attempts to achieve ignition. The igniter may emit a clicking sound without successfully lighting the gas, indicating a malfunction. In some cases, the igniter may not produce any visible spark at all. An igniter failure can lead to delayed ignition, causing a noticeable delay between turning the knob and the burner lighting.

    Electronic Control Board Replacement

An inoperative electronic control board can lead to various failures in an oven, including a lack of power or heating in the oven, or prevent the oven from turning off. This is because the board serves as the brain of the oven, controlling crucial operations such as regulating oven temperatures, running cooling fans, controlling cooking time and controlling the self-clean cycle of the oven. If the electronic control board malfunctions, it can disrupt communication between many different components. A failing board may prevent the oven door latch from engaging, or may cause a chattering or clicking noise from the oven or emit a burning odor. Due to the potential impact on multiple components, it is advisable to have a Sears Home Services professional conduct diagnostic tests on the board to confirm if replacement is necessary.

    Bake Element Replacement

A broken oven bake element will prevent the element from heating. In some cases, the bake element may show visible signs of damage, such as cracks, blisters, or burn marks. A failing element may exhibit an inability of the oven to reach or maintain the set temperature. You may notice uneven cooking or prolonged cooking times. If the element is severely damaged, it may cause sparking, smoking or odd noises during operation. Having a Sears Home Services professional address these symptoms promptly is essential to ensure consistent and effective baking performance in the oven.

How is the not heating problem fixed?

Correcting most not heating problems usually involves replacing the igniter, electronic control board or bake element. However, there are many potential causes, so a thorough diagnosis is key to fixing the problem. An accurate diagnosis is essential to understanding how much the repair will be.

Sears Home Services recommendations for an oven that is not heating

When the oven is not heating it can be for many reasons. To avoid replacing unneeded parts we recommend having a Sears Home Services professional perform diagnostic tests to identify the root cause of the problem. Our technicians are experienced at diagnosing all types of oven failures.

What to look out for with an oven not heating diagnosis

Diagnosing modern appliances without proper knowledge and training can be difficult. Without using proper diagnostic techniques, fixing your oven problem will only be achieved through changing parts on a hunch. Appliances, especially in the last 10 years, have become extremely advanced, and many models have electronic parts that are difficult to test. DIY repairs on the latest appliance models are becoming increasingly difficult.

Samsung Oven not Heating Over 150

When your Samsung oven is not heating over 150, follow these troubleshooting tips to fix the problem.

    • Reset the oven control board. Shut off the house circuit breaker for the oven for 5 minutes. Reset the circuit breaker to restore electrical power to the oven. The oven control board will reset and reboot. It may begin working properly. Check to see if the oven heats normally after resetting the control board.
    • Check the bake element for damage. For an electric Samsung oven not heating over 150, shut off the house circuit breaker for the oven and examine the bake element. If you see a crack or visible damage to the bake element, have a service technician replace that part.
    • Examine the bake burner igniter. A weak igniter in a gas Samsung oven can prevent the bake burner from lighting properly. When the igniter is weak, it will light the burner from a cold start-up of the oven but won’t continue to ignite the burner after the control cycles the burner off to maintain oven temperature. Let the oven cool down for more than an hour and then start the oven again in the bake mode. If the burner ignites and heats the oven but then the burner stops working, you’ll likely need to have a technician replace the weak igniter to fix the heating problem.

Samsung Gas Oven Not Heating Over 175

When you have a Samsung gas oven not heating over 175, follow these troubleshooting tips.

    • Check the control settings. The Celsius temperature 175 equates to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. If your control panel is displaying temperature in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit, follow the directions in your owner’s manual to switch the control temperature display to Fahrenheit.
    • Check the bake burner igniter. A weak or broken bake burner igniter could be causing the heating problem in your Samsung oven. Let the oven cool completely. Pull the bottom panel out of the bottom of the oven so you can see the bake burner and its igniter. Start a bake cycle and see whether the bake igniter glows and lights the bake burner. If the igniter doesn’t glow, you’ll need to have a service technician replace it. If the igniter glows but doesn’t light the burner, the igniter could still be bad even though it glows. If the igniter lights the burner initially but won’t relight the burner after the control cycles off the burner to maintain the set temperature, then the igniter is weak and you’ll need to have a technician replace it.
    • Reset the electronic control. Sometimes, resetting the electronic control will fix a problem with your Samsung gas oven not heating over 175. To reset the oven control board, unplug the oven or shut off the house circuit breaker for the oven to completely disconnect electrical power. Leave power off for 5 minutes then plug the oven back in or reset the house circuit breaker for the oven to restore electrical power. The oven control board will reboot and reset. You may then be able to use the oven normally.

If these basic troubleshooting steps don’t help, schedule oven repair service and we’ll send a Sears Home Services technician to your home to fix the oven heating problem.

Samsung Oven Not Heating Over 175

When you discover your Samsung oven not heating over 175, check the control settings. The Celsius temperature 175 equates to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. If your control panel is displaying temperature in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit, follow the directions in your owner’s manual to switch the control temperature display to Fahrenheit.

If your Samsung oven is not heating over 175-degrees Fahrenheit when it’s set to a higher temperature such as 400-degrees, follow these troubleshooting steps to help resolve the heating issue.

    • Check the bake element. For an electric Samsung oven, unplug the power cord or shut off the house circuit breaker to disconnect electrical power. Examine the bake element for cracks or damage. If you see visible damage to the bake element, have a service technician replace that part.
    • Check the bake burner igniter. For a gas Samsung oven not heating over 175, let the oven cool down completely. Remove the bottom panel inside the oven cavity so your can see the igniter. Start a bake cycle and see if the bake burner igniter glows. If that igniter doesn’t glow, then you may need to have a technician replace it. A control board problem or wiring failure can also prevent the bake burner igniter from glowing. If the igniter glows but doesn’t ignite the burner, the igniter may be weak. You’ll likely need to have a service technician replace the igniter in this situation as well. If the igniter lights the bake burner from a cold start-up of the oven but fails to continue igniter the burner after the oven heats up, then the igniter is likely weak and will need replacing. Schedule oven repair service to have a Sears Home Services technician examine your oven and fix the heating problem when you suspect a weak igniter is preventing the oven from heating properly.
    • Reset the oven control board. Sometimes, resetting the electronic control board in your oven will fix a heating problem. To reset the oven control board, unplug the oven power cord or shut off the house circuit breaker for the oven to completely disconnect electrical power from the appliance. Wait 5 minutes and then restore power to the oven. The oven control board will reboot and reset. It may begin working as it should so your oven heats properly. If not, you’ll likely need to schedule oven repair service to have a repair technician fix the oven.
