    Electronic Control Board Replacement

When your freezer is not turning on, a malfunctioning electronic control board could be causing the problem. The electronic control board receives electrical power from the power cord or power supply board and sends signals to the control panel. When the control panel is dead, a bad electronic control board may not be sending signals or power to the control panel. A bad relay on the circuit board or corrupted internal logic or memory can prevent the electronic control board from working. Have a Sears Home Services Technician examine and repair your freezer when it won't turn on. The technician will perform diagnostic tests on the electronic control board and replace it if it is bad.

    Compressor Replacement

When your freezer is not turning on, a failed compressor could be causing the problem. The function of a freezer compressor is to compress and pump the refrigerant gas that flows through the sealed system, which in turns absorbs and removes heat from the inside of the freezer, keeping it cool. When the compressor fails, the freezer won’t cool at all. Because the EPA regulates the handling and disposal of all refrigerants, you’ll need to have a certified service technician perform the repair. Schedule service through Sears Home Services and we’ll send a certified technician to your home to fix your freezer.

    Power Supply Board Replacement

If the power supply board is bad, the freezer will not power up. The freezer won’t cool and the interior and display lights won’t work. If the freezer is equipped with an electronic door lock, the lock will fail to engage and the door may not close completely. This is because the power supply in a freezer connects the incoming power from your home’s electrical supply to the components inside the freezer. It also sends power from the control board to the freezer. A defective power supply board may also fail to protect the freezer from power surges, potentially causing damage to electronic components like the main control board. If your freezer is not powering up, have a Sears Home Services professional inspect it and replace the power supply board if necessary.

How is the not turning on problem fixed?

Correcting most not turning on problems usually involves replacing the electronic control board, compressor or power supply. However, there are many potential causes, so a thorough diagnosis is key to fixing the problem. An accurate diagnosis is essential to understanding how much the repair will be.

Diagnosing modern appliances without proper knowledge and training can be difficult. Without using proper diagnostic techniques, fixing your freezer problem will only be achieved through changing parts on a hunch. Appliances, especially in the last 10 years, have become extremely advanced, and many models have electronic parts that are difficult to test. DIY repairs on the latest appliance models are becoming increasingly difficult.
